Biography of Evgeni Orkin LONG 

 

Evgeni Orkin is an outstanding composer and musician who has established himself internationally both as a composer and as a performer on modern and historical clarinets. With his unique musical vision and artistic excellence, he has become a prominent figure in the international music scene.

Evgeni Orkin was born in Lviv, Ukraine, into a family of musicians. After graduating from the Music College, he continued his studies at renowned institutions, including the conservatories in Kyiv (Ukraine), Utrecht (The Netherlands), and the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim (Germany). There, he specialized in composition, clarinet, and conducting.

Evgeni Orkin is a prolific composer whose works are performed internationally on prestigious stages.

Among the distinguished ensembles performing his music are the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, Korean National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Heidelberg Theatre, INSO Lviv, Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Odesa Philharmonic Orchestra, Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, Reutlingen Philharmonic Orchestra, Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich, L’arpa festante Baroque Orchestra, Camerata Kyiv, Kurpfälzisches Chamber Orchestra, Princeton University Orchestra, and youth orchestras in Ukraine and Germany, among others, under conductors such as Oksana Lyniv, Cornelius Meister, Philipp Amelung, Hobart Earle, Michael Pratt, Daniel Grossmann, Alexander Gordon, Volodymyr Sirenko, Valeriy Matiukhin, and Dmytro Hlushchenko.

Soloists who have performed his music include Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Sol Gabetta, Bohdana Pivnenko, Enrico Palascino, Zoltan Amlaschy, Andrii Murza, Alexey Semenenko, Nadia Shpachenko, the Kyiv Piano Duo, Giora Feidman, Sebastian Lastein, Anton Hollich, Dieter Hubov, and Sofia Molchanova, among others.

His compositions have been featured at major festivals including the Vienna Music Weeks, Young Euro Classic, Kunstfest Weimar, Lucerne Festival, Ost-West Paris, Contrasts Lviv, LvivMozArt, Kyiv Music Fest, Heidelberger Frühling, Lüneburger Heide Festival, Bodensee Festival, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, and Katarakt Hamburg.

He has composed numerous works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, and solo instruments, earning acclaim from critics and audiences alike. His creative approach combines different historical periods and stylistic influences into a distinctive musical language.
