Bio
Evgeni Orkin was born in Ukraine in 1977. Since completing his studies in composition, orchestral conducting and clarinet in Kiev, Utrecht and Mannheim, he has achieved international success as a soloist and composer. He has presented the world premieres of clarinet works composed for him by Valentin Silvestrov, Yevgen Stankovych, Nuno Corte-Real, Bouke Feleus and other composers. He has appeared at such renowned festivals as the Heidelberg Spring, the Kiev MusicFest, Bodensee Festival and Donaueschingen Festival. His symphony „Parade of the planets“ received the Ukrainian President's Award; he also won the first prize in composition at the II festival of the World Jewish Congress and the first prize of composing competition of the Goethe institute Germany.
Evgeni Orkin is a founding member of the „Komponistenverschwörung“.
He currently teaches clarinet and saxophone at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim and pursues an active international career as a freelance composer and instrumentalist.
2023 he won an European Composer Award in Berlin with "Odesa Rhapsody".
